Broken screens and dead batteries are very common with today's tablets and smartphones. Even headphone jacks and switches can be damaged over time. From iPhones to Android-based devices, I can repair whatever it is you need. Each case tends to be different so please contact me and describe your problem to receive a quote.
Many small business require some level of IT support but not enough to warrant a full time IT employee. I work with several businesses providing on-site and remote support for numerous problems faced in a work environment. I have experience setting up and deploying servers, switches, creating and managing network domains and users, setting up VPN's between remote sites, troubleshooting hard faults in LAN networks, deploying printers, setting up secure wireless access points and various other IT related services.
There was a time when a repair man could come to your house and fix your television or radio on the spot. Those days are long gone as consumer electronics have become incredibly sophisticated due to leaps in manufacturing processes. Electronics repair is not nearly as popular as it once was, with most devices today being designed without serviceability in mind, but most electronic devices can still be repaired often times better than new. Many failures are simply due to poor design right from the factory. Whenever possible I try to incorporate changes in the repair itself to prevent a repeat failure from happening in the future.
Some of the most common problems facing computers today are viruses and spyware.
The purpose of a virus is to infect as many machines as possible, spreading from one computer to the next via your internet connection.
They are designed to harm the user's computer by corrupting important system files or even the user's files themselves.
Spyware also infects your computer, but instead of doing direct harm it tracks your information such as browsing habits and computer usage, and sends the information to the creator of the spyware. They use this data to send you invasive advertisements and even software onto your machine.
Almost all viruses and spyware today come from the internet, and browsing without a virus scanner is very risky, as simply clicking the wrong link can allow one onto your machine. Pirated software is also high risk and can contain a virus without the user knowing.
Common symptoms of viruses and or spyware include:
Computers get slow. It happens over time as various system logs, temporary files, programs and miscellaneous files build up. Many times these files are never needed and do nothing more than take up space, slow down the system and frustrate the user. One of the most common complaints I've seen is that a client's computer is being slow. With various tools I'm able to clean up the system, disable unnecessary programs and services and give the computer a reasonable improvement in speed without having to reinstall the operating system.
Accidentally erasing an important file can be devastating, but often times there is a possibility that it can be recovered. If you are in need of this service, stop what you are doing and call. When it comes to data recovery, the deleted file exists for some time after deletion, but may be lost as the user continues to use their computer. It is very important to act quickly when it comes to this problem.
I can install and configure any number of applications, or assist in configuring existing applications. This includes operating systems such as Windows, word processors, tax programs and other various utilities.
Another common problem for a slow computer is simply the fact that it is outdated. Computers that are 5 or more years old can have problems keeping up with even simple tasks such as web browsing, watching videos or playing certain games. Instead of buying a whole new machine, it is often possible to upgrade for much cheaper and get a few more years of life out of it. I am able to assess your computer to determine whether or not upgrading is the right choice.
Feel free to contact me about anything I have not listed on the service page.
